The WPGCA E&RF is a non-profit foundation that was incorporated in 1997. This foundation was developed from the WPGCA to take over three activities previously sponsored by that club. These activities include:

1. The progeny testing program - held in the spring and fall of each year in 4 regions of the country. this program consists of 3 different hunting tests; Natural Ability, Intermediate and Utility.
2. Annual judge's seminar - Held in a different region of the country each year, these seminars help, not only judges and apprentice judges but also owners, evaluate the versatile hunting dog. Topics discussed include; coat, conformation, and temperament (just to name a few).
3. Publication of the The Gun Dog Supreme - This news-bulletin is published 6 times a year. Winner of many Dog Writers' Association of America awards, This bulletin features articles on training the versatile hunting dog and test results from around the country.

Our mission is to increase awareness of breeding programs that utilize progeny testing by disseminating this information through judge's seminars, "The Gun Dog Supreme" and other print documents, so that other gun dog enthusiasts may benefit. Hunting dog breeders will also benefit from having their dogs tested by producing cooperative, stable, natural on-foot gun dogs that everyone can be proud of. Our goals include the following:

1.  Preservation and Improvement of the natural, versatile hunting dog qualities of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon breed through a program of progeny testing coupled with training and education of judges, apprentice judges, dog owners, and members of the public interested in gun dogs, generally, and in the breed, in particular.
2. Maintenance, publication, and dissemination of existing and future information on the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon breed as concerns breed ancestry, field test performance, temperament, cooperation, conformation and OFA certification for hip dysplasia (herein "breeding data") for use in making and evaluating breeding decisions based upon scientific genetic principles.
3. Maintenance and refinement of a progeny testing program for the purpose of acquiring new breeding data for use in evaluating past breeding decisions and guiding future breeding decisions.
4. Training and education of judges, apprentice judges, dog owners and other interested members of the public through a program of "judges Seminars", tapes and written materials centered around genetics and evaluation of genetic traits through progeny testing.
5. Publication and dissemination through a periodic news bulletin, The Gun Dog Supreme, of information concerning breed ancestry, breeding decisions, progeny test results, upcoming tests, seminars and other information of value to anyone interested in maintaining and improving the versatile hunting dog qualities of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon breed.
6. Publication and dissemination to the public in national outdoor and gun dog magazines of information regarding or resulting from the controlled breeding and progeny testing programs for the education of, and use by, enthusiasts of all hunting dog breeds.
